• We are in-network with BCBS/Anthem PPO plans and Christian Healthcare Ministries.

• If you have a different insurance, we are able to run a Verification of Benefits to see if your Out-of-Network Benefits offer you a financial option that fits for your family.

• Medicaid recipients will be able to utilize their benefits once we are in-network with Medicaid plans. During this wait, we cannot accept Medicaid.

• Payment plans are possible for your out-of-pocket costs.

We offer a discount for clients whose insurance isn’t in-network, don’t carry insurance, or who have high deductibles and prefer to pay out of pocket. It includes routine prenatal care, birth support at the birth center, postpartum care and the first two weeks of care for your newborn. This self-pay rate does not include: nitrous oxide, certain genetic screening, or our registration fee. We are able to create flexible payment plans for each client.

Our costs are broken down into:

• Professional Fee - This is one-on-one time with midwives during your appointments and at the time of your birth. This billed to your insurance, or is included in the self-pay rate.

• Facility Fee - This covers the birthing suite use, birthing supplies, birth assistant support and related costs for your appointments. This fee is billed to your insurance, or is included in the self-pay rate.

• Newborn Care - this includes immediate care after birth, and for the first two weeks of life. This is billed to insurance, or is included in the self-pay rate.

We will present you with an estimate of out-of-pocket costs after you have attended a tour with us and we have been able to review your specific insurance policy with a Verification of Benefits. You will receive this estimate prior to your first appointment with the midwives so you are able to make an informed choice about your care prior to coming into care.

Families choosing to give birth at Indiana Birth Center are expected to participate in the becoming prepared for their unmedicated birth by taking a comprehensive childbirth education class.

• First Time Parents are requested to take a comprehensive childbirth class. That can be a class we offer at our center, or from the community that fulfills the necessary educational needs of first-time parents (i.e. understanding the process of birth, ways to cope with unmedicated labor, how to help labor progress, early postpartum and newborn care, etc.). There is usually a fee associated with these classes.

• Experienced Parents: if you have given birth before, but have not had unmedicated birth, or gave birth in a hospital, we recommend taking a comprehensive childbirth class. If you have experienced unmedicated birth before, it maybe helpful to have a refresher class that is an abbreviated version. We hope this class covers coping techniques for each stage of labor, and a review for partners on physical support for labor. There is usually a fee associated with these classes.

• Infant Feeding*: If you are planning to breastfeed or to pump to feed your baby, we recommend taking a lactation class to help you better prepare for this new skill. There is a wide variety of books you can use to help learn, and many families share they appreciate is presented as a class where they can ask questions. There is usually a fee associated with these classes.

*Additional classes beyond comprehensive childbirth education are NOT required, but are definitely encouraged!
